Why We Buy US Made Aluminum

Why We Buy US Made Aluminum

When we started No Worries Manufacturing in 2024, we made a decision that mattered to us: whenever possible, we would build our products with American-made materials.

That decision came before the recent tariff increases. It wasn’t a response to politics, a marketing campaign, or something we thought would look good on a label. It came from a pretty simple belief: if we want manufacturing to stay in America, American manufacturers need to support one another.

For us, that starts with aluminum.

American Made Was the Plan From the Beginning

We manufacture our products here in the USA, and we believe the materials going into them should come from American producers whenever they are available.

Buying U.S.-made aluminum supports a much bigger chain than just our shop. It supports mills, truck drivers, material suppliers, machinists, fabricators and the communities where those people live and work.

As a small American manufacturer ourselves, that matters to us.

We know firsthand what it means when someone chooses to spend their money with a small U.S. business. We try to make that same choice with our suppliers.

That Choice Has Become More Expensive

There’s no point pretending the aluminum market hasn’t changed.

When we started No Worries Manufacturing in 2024, the U.S. Midwest aluminum premium was around 19 cents per pound. Since then, it has climbed dramatically — at times topping $1.00 per pound.

That premium is just one part of what manufacturers pay for aluminum, but the change gives some perspective on what small American manufacturers have been navigating.

Tariffs and changes in the aluminum market have increased our material costs. And because not every product we need is currently manufactured in the United States, there are situations where there simply isn’t an American-made option available.

Those realities have put pressure on our margins.

But they haven’t changed our philosophy.

Instead of immediately passing every increase along to our customers, we’ve looked harder at our own operation. We tighten our belts. We watch our costs. We work to become more efficient. And we continue looking for American suppliers whenever an American-made option exists.

We won't always be able to absorb every increase, but we don't believe our customers should automatically carry the burden of every change in the aluminum market either.

More Than a Sticker on the Box

“Made in America” means something to us.

It means keeping manufacturing knowledge and capability here. It means supporting the people who make, move and supply the materials we use. It means building relationships with other American businesses. And ultimately, it means making products we’re proud to put the No Worries Manufacturing name on.

We’re a small manufacturer. We aren't going to change the global aluminum market.

But we can decide where we spend our dollars.

And whenever we have the choice, we’ll keep choosing American.

Not because it’s the cheapest option.

Not because tariffs suddenly made it important.

Because it was part of the plan from the beginning.
